The other day I noticed this mysterious vine growing down from the rambutan tree at the back of the property. It's like it appeared out of nowhere and is now hanging down with lots of green fruits (?) about 3 1/2 feet above the ground. It looks like a long beanstalk vine. How strange. Things grow very fast here in the tropics.
Now what is it??? I should research what this fruit is and if we can eat it.
Could they be passion fruit...?
ReplyDeleteIts passion fruit..my aunt has some in her house :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Passion Fruit is what I think they are! Thank you!!!! It seems they are getting darker in color. Should I wait until they are totally dark and then pick them or pick them while they are still 1/2 green 1/2 purple/brown?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
K
Hi K,
ReplyDeletenice blog! I'm an expat from Germany living in M'sia. Actually, we're also just building our house so your images gave me some inspiration the other day ;)
We're rebuilding and renovating an old wooden traditional style house "rumah kampong" that we bought very cheap and moved to our place.
That was quite adventurous, too :)
All the best to you and your project,
Nadine
Nadine,
ReplyDeleteI am working on a follow up post on passion fruit and just came across your comment which i missed until today.
Thanks for leaving a message. I am happy to hear you are renovating a rumah kampong. I would have loved to do that but we never saw any available for sale. Is it high off the ground? I love the look of these old malay structures. But now after going through so renovation on a 'newish' house I can only imagine the work you must have done. I'd love to see some photos if you have any!
Best wishes to you Nadine
